Bernd Moosmann GmbH

‘Music starts where language stops.’

personeel-moosmann

So says Bernd Moosmann, master manufacturer of bassoons.

“Music starts where language stops” is a quote from E.T.A. Hoffman (see footnote). Three elements are required to achieve this: an inspiring piece of music, inspired musicians and instruments that speak their own language. Bernd Moosmann felt inspired by this quote and manufactures bassoons and clarinets in his traditional workshop that make it easy for musicians throughout the world to stir and express emotions, even within the scope of musical education for children.

The history of the company Bernd Moosmann GmbH
In 1983, Bernd Moosmann took over the business of the woodwind instrument manufacturer Kohlert, from Winnenden, and set up the company Kreul & Moosmann with one of his friends. Bernd Moosmann has been the sole partner and director of the firm ‘Bernd Moosmann – Meisterwerkstätte für Holzblasinstrumente GmbH’ since 1987. They manufacturers bassoons and contra bassoons and has also been selling German system A and Bb clarinets since 1992.
The business outgrew the former workshop of Bernd’s father Albert Moosmann, in the old town centre of Waiblingen (15 km north-east of Stuttgart), and moved to a new property in the industrial zone of Waiblingen in 1993.  The new premises offer plenty of space for production, administration and visitors.

Now, with a staff of 15 highly qualified craftsmen, they produce more than 300 bassoons each year, providing artists in famous orchestras throughout the world with the best instruments from the House of Moosmann. Moosmann often has a representative presence at national and international music fairs and congresses.
Bernd Moosmann celebrated 25 years in the business in 2008, during the Musikmesse in Frankfurt.

Moosmann manufactures bassoons in a range of configurations, suitable for all players from beginners to demanding professionals.

footnote: E.T.A. Hoffmann was a German lawyer and writer who lived from 1776 to 1822. He was also an (average) artist and composer. He also admired Mozart so much that he adopted the “A” for Amadeus into his initials. The quotation at the top of this article is taken from a review he wrote following a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 5th Symphony!
